Welcome to December! Congratulations for (almost) making it to the end of a dark and difficult year. However you spend it, we hope that you have a happy and healthy Christmas. But we also recommend that you set aside some time now to think about the year ahead. Most of us will be only too happy to leave 2020 behind, and look forward to better times from January. A new year is, after all, traditionally a time of new beginnings. Now especially, it’s easy to understand the attraction of making a fresh start. And, if you’re considering construction jobs, you’ve certainly come to the right place as we’ve got a whole host of roles waiting for you.
Many people use the first few months of the year to assess and evaluate where they are in life, both personally and professionally. So it’s unsurprising that January is often a particularly popular time of year for job-hunting. If you’re interested in construction jobs, there is plenty of opportunity to (literally and figuratively) build a new career path for yourself in 2021 and beyond. We are currently recruiting for a wide range of roles in this sector, from entry to senior level.
Why consider construction jobs?
According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), construction output grew by +2.9% (£369 million) in September, compared with August 2020. IN fact, this was driven by increases in both new work, and repair and maintenance. This was the fifth consecutive month of growth since the steep COVID-driven drop in April. Furthermore, quarterly construction output grew by a record +41.7% in the third quarter of 2020. According to the ONS, the largest contributor was private new housing, which grew by +84.4% in Q3, compared with Q2.
It is reasonable to hope that these green shoots of construction recovery will continue to flourish as 2021 unfolds. The COVID-19 crisis is far from over, of course, but in many ways, the worst effects might be. First and foremost, a number of promising vaccines are in the process of being approved for widespread distribution. This will of course save lives. However, this also should render the whole concept of lockdowns, and all their inherent employment implications, obsolete. So, while it’s undeniable the pandemic inflicted major damage on the UK construction industry this year, a gradual and sustained recovery is anticipated. And this means there should be even more construction jobs available for you.
