Top 5 Things You Should Do When Going to An Interview

Whether you are fresh out of university, or you are changing jobs or careers, one of the most important parts of landing a new job is the interview. If you are successful during the interview, chances are, that you will land the job of your dreams and be on your way to creating a successful career. One of the best ways to be successful at your next job interview is to be prepared. Make sure you’re your CV is ready, that you are on time and remember to stay calm, breathe and show them why you are the best candidate for the job.

With that being said, let’s take a look at some things that you should do when going to an interview and how you can ace the interview and get the job you have always wanted:

Top 5 Things You Should Do When Going To An Interview

Dress The Part- obviously, you want to dress properly for your interview and that means dressing appropriately. You don’t want to be overdressed just as much as you don’t want to be underdressed. Professional business attire, good hygiene and a friendly smile can go a long way with many interviewers, recruiters and human resources people.

Review The Interviewer Questions- prepare a list of any questions you believe the interviewer will ask and practice those questions the evening before the interview. This will help you feel more relaxed and confident during the interview and make your answers seem as natural as possible.

Research The Company- always research the company that you are interviewing with to learn any important or interesting facts and information that could help you during the interview. This will also help you to seem more interested in the position and the interviewer will notice.

Be Respectful- you should always be respectful of the interviewer when interviewing for a new job, but don’t forget to be respectful of everyone in the building as word of disrespectful behaviour travels fast and it could affect the interviewer’s decision to hire you or not.

Don’t Forget Your Body Language- your body language, or Non-Verbal Behavior, says a lot about you and how you feel about the job you are interviewing for. Positive body language such as good eye contact, proper body posture and taking a genuine interest in the interview questions is important to your success.
